MICHAEL SMITH AND ASSOCIATES
Melton Botanic Gardens Masterplan
Client | Shire of Melton
Year | 2008 and 2016
The Shire of Melton appointed our practice to prepare the Masterplan for this 10 Ha site south of the Hannah Watts Reserve adjacent to the Western Highway. This prestigious project encompassed drawing on our botanic knowledge and design skills to facilitate garden beds of various climatic zones throughout the world, creative landforms and siting of future facilities.
Our plant and horticultural knowledge and our experience and knowledge of Ecological Sustainable Development and Water Sensitive Urban Design Projects was also required.
We engaged Brecknock Consulting, Paoli Smith-Creative, Traffix Group and Practical Ecology to assist as subconsultants.
Following our preparation of the Melton Botanic Garden Masterplan in 2008 and Michael Smith’s occasional contribution to working bees at the gardens, The Friends Group commissioned our practice to prepare the planting and path layout for a 700 square metre Aboriginal Bush Foods Garden in May 2016.
