This project involved extensive Steering Group consultation and presentations, community workshop and presentation of preliminary ideas for discussion. Site analysis from an environmental and landscape perspective. Review of potential educational and interpretive opportunities and preparation of revegetation, hydraulic and hydrologic engineering solutions to revert 14ha of degraded river flat grazing land to a wetland to accommodate 70% of Hamilton’s stormwater drainage.

Key outcomes included documentation of hydraulic low and high flow pipe work diversions to the main stormwater drain underneath the proposed wetland area. Southern Grampians Shire Council implemented the first stage of the project in 2005 with a formal opening in July 2007.
