Bickerton Masters Architects were awarded the design and documentation for the community hub project that involved the planning, design and documentation of the community hub and early learning centre, working closely with the Project Team and Melton City Council and design specialist subconsultants.

Michael Smith and Associates was specifically engaged by Bickerton Masters to work closely with their office and Melton City Council to prepare the landscape design for the surrounds of the community hub, the carpark including rain gardens to the 70-space car park to the south of the community hub.

A key aspect in the design has been the early learning centre’s playspace that was divided into two outdoor learning rooms. Each outdoor playroom space featured custom designed parkour and type climbing structures, thatched roof cubby houses, dry creek beds with surrounding mudstone rocks, timber logs and several items of proprietary play apparatus suitable for two to four year old children. Space was allowed for educators to carry out transient apparatus from the toy library on a daily basis.
